One of the most popular textured surfaces is known as popcorn texture; most often found on ceilings. This particular texture provides the texture best for controlling sound. After the popcorn ceiling texture is applied it does not require painting. Popcorn texture allows quick covering for small imperfections such as cracks, visible nail holes, etc. Some customers indicate popcorn ceiling produces a warm, comfortable environment to the room. Similar to popcorn texture, the knockdown drywall texture is most popular in ceiling applications. Knockdown texture requires a skill professional for it's application as well as provides character and warmth to the room. Unlike popcorn, knockdown requires the surface area to be primed and then painted once dry. Utilizing colors in this technicail application is extremly attractive. 

The orange-peel texture is one of the lightest wall and ceiling textures and currently one of the most popular. Similar to knowckdown texture as well as popcorn, the orange-peel texture offers a fresh and attention-grabing appearance to walls and ceilings. Orange-peel also assists in completly hidding imperfections in the wall and/or ceiling. Just as the knockdown requires priming and painting  and paint once dry, so does the orange-peel texture. Relative to its name, the appearence of orange-peel texture resembles that of an orange-fruit. This texture is also referred to as egg shell texture.

Similar to knockdown drywall texture, Orange peel texture offers a fresh and interesting look to walls and ceilings as well as helping to completely hide any flaws in the drywall.

It is a more durable option and is much easier to clean than the popcorn texture. Be aware, however, that once applied, the orange peel texture is considered permanent.
